Trump and, above all, those who facilitated his rise — who could have stopped him at any time, but refused to do so — have turned the US into an embarrassing, unwelcome laughing stock with nuclear weapons, into someone unpleasant, lacking in education, class and manners, who one only speaks to when it really can’t be avoided. There is no easy way out of Trumps Hormuz mess, as there is no simple way to switch back once Trumps is gone. America needs to repair, change and secure its system, and it will take a long time to heal the fractures caused by Trump’s presidency, both nationally and internationally.
